Special Edition: Women Holding the Reins to Modern Agriculture
April 2026
From the Editors Saddle
There’s something sacred about watching the sun rise over open land. Before the world is fully awake, there are already hands at work. Boots in the dirt, or in my case, Vans. Gates swinging open, feed being poured, horses saddled. Agriculture doesn’t wait, and neither do the people who devote their lives to it.
I believe deeply in the future of agriculture.
I’ve seen firsthand what it takes. I’ve watched my family work long days in every kind of weather, giving their time, energy, and heart to the land and the livestock. I’ve seen the early mornings and the late nights. I’ve seen the sacrifice. And through it all, I’ve also seen the quiet pride that comes from honest work.
The animals we care for work even harder for us. They trust us. They provide for us. They stand in the heat, the cold, the dust, and the wind. That partnership. Between people, land, and livestock, is something I will never take for granted. It is truly a blessing.
This magazine was built on that belief.
The Stockyard Standard exists to honor the grit, beauty, and legacy of western life and agriculture. It exists to document the people shaping this industry today and those who will carry it forward tomorrow. It exists to remind us that agriculture is not fading. It is evolving, growing stronger, and rooted in generations of resilience.
Every feature in this issue reflects that foundation: hard work, heritage, and hope for what’s ahead.
From my family to yours, thank you for believing in this way of life. Thank you for preserving it. And thank you for being part of its future.
